Sing Out for Freedom Benefit Concert to Feature Honoree Peppermint, Host Amber Ruffin

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) are teaming up once again to present the annual Sing Out for Freedom benefit concert. The latest, 21st installment is set to take place at NYU’s Skirball Center on Nov. 13.

The theme that night will be “Sing Out for Freedom: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Fabulous” and the program will spotlight actress and entertainer Peppermint who will be feted with the Michael Friedman Freedom Award. Host, writer and performer Amber Ruffin has been tapped to serve as the night’s emcee. Michelle Buteau, Alexis Michelle, Hayley Kiyoko, Cheyenne Jackson, Taylor Iman Jones, Pia Toscano, Vincint and Liana Stampur, among others, will take the stage to perform.

Tickets are on sale now. Sing Out For Freedom was established to shine a light on social injustices and civil rights issues through a curated night of song, spoken word and other performances. It was co-founded by Liana Stampur and Erich Bergen along with NYCLU executive director Donna Lieberman. Proceeds benefit the work of the NYCLU and the ACLU. The 21st edition will be produced by Bergen’s 6W Entertainment and executive produced by Ari Conte with direction by Bergen and musical direction by Michael J. Moritz Jr.
